Worshipful Company of Haberdashers
This English charity has been providing funds for students for hundreds of years.
The Worshipful Company of Haberdashers is an ancient merchant guild of London. The most interesting thing about this guild is its mission to provide funds for poor children to attend school. They began doing this more than 400 years ago! In 1690 the Worshipful Company of Haberdashers founded a boys school in Hoxton. Today they operate more than a dozen schools for girls and boys. In keeping with its Christian tradition, the Haberdashers’ Company continues to present copies of the King James Bible to pupils at all its schools.
